Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has urged her teammates to put the disappointing defeat against Cameroon behind them and focus on their next challenge.
The 10-time African champions missed out on automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup after losing to the Indomitable Lionesses in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Justine Madugu’s side, however, still have another opportunity to secure a place at Brazil 2027 through the inter-confederation playoffs.
The Super Falcons must first overcome South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in their play-in clash to book a spot in the mini-tournament.

Ajibade Urges Focus Ahead Banyana Showdown
Ajibade stressed the importance of bouncing back from the Cameroon setback and securing victory against South Africa.
“What has happened has happened. There’s nothing we can do about that. We can’t control it anymore. It’s all about putting ourselves together and getting the loss behind us,” Ajibade told a press conference ahead of the crucial clash.
” Sometimes champions are defined in the face of adversities. We just have to go back and prepare better. Being in the World Cup, honestly, in Nigeria, that is very important for us. So we’ll do our best.”
Tonight’s encounter at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca is scheduled to kick off at 9pm.
