The Adamawa State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Forum from the Northern zone has commended President Bola Tinubu for taking proactive measures to ensure that Phase One of the Yola -Mubi road is completed before the 2027 general elections.
The Forum also commended the contractor, AG Vision, handling the Yola-Mubi road project for what they described as durable work.
This is as they expressed concern that the Federal Government should complete the project as soon as possible.
The spokesman of the forum, Mohammed Abubakar, while speaking to journalists on Monday in Mubi, said that the “Phase One” of the road has been completed and that the Federal Government should speed up action to award the contract for Phase Two
Mohammed Abubakar opined that “The Yola-Mubi road is very important to the people of northern Adamawa, because of its proximity to the Republic of Cameroon and Mubi, because of its commercial centre of Adamawa State.
According to the Spokesperson, “completing the road before the general elections in 2027 will be an added advantage to our party”.
“We must commend the contractor, AG vision and President Bola Tinubu, for taking proactive measures to ensure that the phase one of the road is completed and we appealed to the Minister of Works, David Umahi to award the contract of phase two before the forthcoming general elections to silence the oppositions, he stated.
Abubakar said that the completion of the road will not only boost the business activities in Mubi, but it will enhance the business relationship between Cameroon and Nigeria.
“Similarly, the road if completed will help the security agencies to combat insurgency, banditry and kidnapping in the northern zone.
“The northern Adamawa and central zone are the two zones under security threat; you can see the attacks in Madagali, Hong and Gombi local governments that occurred every week because of the proximity to Sambisa Forest”.
Abubakar however used occasion and called on the National Security Adviser (NSA) Malam Nuhu Ribadu to use his good office to ensure that the project which is central to re-election of president Tinubu is awarded before next year.
He similarly accused “some top APC members in Adamawa state of working in the night for other political parties, while dancing in the day for President Tinubu and the governorship candidate Alhaji Tijani Galadima”.
Alhaji saidu Umar, a commercial motorists who spoke with Journalists, said “the re-constructed road is wider and thicker than when it was constructed before, we are happy with the contractor AG vision for doing a good job”.
He lamented that “some people because of their selfish interests are trying to sabotage the project and use it against the federal government, but we are sure with the government, they cannot achieve their goals”.
